STEM Saturdays

STEM classes focus on science, technology, engineering, and math topics. This summer, take advantage of our special offer – one FREE STEM Saturday (per person)! To secure your free workshop, please call (815) 921-3900 with your student's information.

Students will have the chance to make various projects from recycled pieces taken from computers, keyboards, monitors, TVs, and more! Projects include jewelry and keychains, mini desk fan, and even a birdhouse from old circuit boards.

Taught by Laura Constant, on Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m., at RVC Main Campus in the Jacobs Center for Science and Math (JCSM) Building.

Want to better understand why when we drop something it falls to the ground? Yet, if there is any type of force, like magnets or water, it may not fall the same? Students will explore how nature and the properties of matter and energy can be used to defy gravity. Projects include Newton's cradle, floating paper clips, and egg drop.

Want to build your own video game? Students will use the free platform created by MIT students to design, build, and play their very own games.

NEW: Camp Supernova

Led by RVC Starlight Theatre teaching artists, Camp Supernova is a one-week summer theater camp that guides students through the process of creating theatre. From singing, acting, and dancing, students will learn new techniques, gain confidence in expressing ideas, and build on existing strengths and abilities.

Registration fees include camp tuition, t-shirt, book bag, and one free ticket to the Starlittle production of The Stinky Cheeseman. Fees are non-refundable and must be paid in full.

  • Early Bird registration fee is $125, due April 30, 2023.
  • Standard registration fee is $150, due by May 26, 2023.

Musical Theatre Camp is for students entering grades 6-8 this fall. The camp will run July 10-14, 2023 from 1-5 p.m.

Campers will explore dramatic play, singing, and choreography to teach and enhance musical theater performance, building confidence, experience, and friendships. Excerpts may include, but are not limited to Legally Blonde, Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods, Hairspray, and more!

At the end of the camp, there will be a theatrical presentation, led by the campers, to showcase musical excerpts to their friends and family.

All Things Theatre Camp is for students entering grades 3-5 this fall. The camp will run July 17-21, 2023 from 1-5 p.m.

Campers will explore theatre games, improvisation, dramatic play, creative design, and visual art techniques involved in creating a production. They will also experience what it's like to be a prop creator as they design a prop to be used in the 2023 Starlittle production of The Stinky Cheeseman!

At the end of the camp, the campers will lead a theatrical presentation to showcase scenes, dance, and technical design to their friends and family.
